Healthcare is built on the needs of patients and those needs are always in a state of transformation. Education is a key in assisting healthcare leaders achieve this. According to the White House, “In higher education, the U.S. has been outpaced internationally. In 1990, the U.S. ranked first in the world in four-year degree attainment among 25-34 year olds; today, the U.S. ranks 12th.” That is a significant decline and indicates that the higher level skill set needed for leaders can also be lacking. We need to address that need and help leaders become who they need to be in this field.
Incentives such as tuition reimbursement and college credit for professional experience are vital elements of many hiring packages for future healthcare leaders. For current leaders, expanding on their education can help to build the confidence needed to reach goals.
